Benefits
There are many benefits to this type of proposed project and where possible, co-locating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with solar farms makes our projects even more efficient, provides additional flexibility for the wider electricity system, and enables our sites to continue providing clean renewable energy to the network even after the sun has set.
Alongside the inherent renewable energy benefits that this project would deliver, it will also provide:
Community Benefit Fund
The project will deliver a Community Benefit Fund to be spent by local people on local projects.
The Community Benefit Fund has not yet been set-up; however, Kier Property will engage with local bodies, such as parish councils, to understand how it should be managed and operated.
Local Economy
The project will contribute to the local economy, directly through the creation of construction-related jobs and indirectly in the supply chain. The project will also have an ongoing contribution to the local and wider economy including business rates and through the operational management of the renewable energy park.
The Environment
The proposals will include an increase in biodiversity on-site through the ecological and landscaping strategies, further supporting more local wildlife. Solar farms are also a fully reversible form of development allowing for the restoration of land to its former use at the end of a project’s operational lifetime.
Inclusion of the EV charging station within the scheme will help the local community take the step to electric vehicles which in turn contributes to the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
